Google's New Adsense Policy 2017

Adsense: Google will now go easier on publishers that violate its ad policies

Google changes how it implements the ad policies: It will now show ads from individual web pages that violate their ad norms. This means that Google will effectively cut fewer sites from its ad network.

Entire sites may still be on the AdSense platform for infringements, and publishers may still be disabled or disabled from using AdSense.

The change follows a recent busy boycott of YouTube by affected advertisers about ads running in inappropriate videos and a trend of active campaigns that push advertisers to remove their ads from controversial websites.

The new approach, announced in a blog post today, is more easy for publishers. Previously, an publisher's entire site would be suspended from ad placements if only one page violated Google's policy.

Because Google and AdSense network publishers share advertising revenue, this means more surgical procedures both Google and its publishers will lose less money. Examples of what violates Google's policy include refreshing ads on a page too often, or attempting to place AdSense ads along with content that promotes tobacco sales.

"It really means two things for publishers: This means we can be more specific about where we take action and that means we can take action faster," said Scott Spencer, Product Manager Director in Google Advertising.

Spencer is responsible for the advertising and publishing team that aims to prevent bad advertisements and he also represents Google in industry groups that develop and advocate industry standards.

"This is not reactive to what's happening in the industry. This is an improvement for publishers ... as to how we can take action for our policies," he added, referring to YouTube ads-boycott and activist efforts aimed at To advertisers.

A new expansion of AdSense hate speech rules is also applicable at page level.

Google also creates a new publisher platform to better handle any suspensions of ads on their sites. "Policy Center" will tell publishers how many violations a page has, for what type of content will provide guidance on how to fix the problem so ads can resume on the page.
